Recycle, Reuse, Reduce.
Rubber derived from end-of-life tyres can be used to improve the performance of asphalt and chipseals. The polymers in the rubber will improve the elastic properties of the bitumen and the carbon black acts as an anti-oxidant. The rubber is ground into particles called crumbs which are preblended into the bitumen.
Re-purposing plastic waste helps create a circular economy. The use of MacRebur® (recycled plastic) provides a viable alternative raw material for producing asphalt with a strong environmental payoff. Segregated plastic waste otherwise destined for landfill or incineration can be used as a substitute portion of the bitumen in asphalt.
