Using us to lay your basecourse means that this key phase of the construction process will be managed by experts who can ensure precise control over the levels of the construction materials. This makes coordination easier and saves management time. Having one supplier doing both the basecourse and wearing course also creates more flexibility around pavement construction programming.
On top of that, you get quality and efficiency gains. The interface of the basecourse and asphalt surface is one of the greatest challenges of pavement construction. When the Asco constructs the basecourse, we take the responsibility for the finished level, making sure the interface meets requirements and claims for extra asphalt are mitigated.
You can rely on the quality of the basecourse we put down. The process is strikingly similar to laying asphalt, which Asco has been doing on a daily basis for many years. The skills required for basecourse construction are directly transferable from our asphalt laying.
And we’ve invested in advanced technology to make ensure a quality outcome. The BGPC14 paver process augers the basecourse from the paver hopper to the screed through a series of augers to ensure that the biggest problem with basecourse, i.e. segregation of material, is minimised.
With the superior mix, compaction of upwards of about 80% is achieved with a single pass as the basecourse is laid. This means a further time saving, as you need fewer passes with compaction equipment to reach the optimum density.
